Process to Pay Income Tax through Debit Card
The Tax Payment through Debit Card of Authorised Banks option is available to all taxpayers on the e-Filing portal www.incometax.gov.in. This service allows you to make tax payments online, either in Pre-login or Post-login mode, using the debit card of an Authorized Bank available for online tax payment on the e-Filing Portal.
Without logging in to the e-Filing portal
Firstly, visit the e-Filing portal and click e-Pay Tax.
After that, fill in the required details on the e-Pay Tax page and click Continue.
On the OTP Verification page, enter the 6-digit OTP received on your mobile number and click Continue.
After OTP verification, a success message displaying your PAN/TAN and masked name will show. Click Continue to proceed.
On the e-Pay Tax page, click Proceed on the tax payment category that applies to you.
Select the Assessment Year, Minor head, and other applicable details, and click Continue.
On the Add Tax Breakup Details page, enter the breakup of the total amount of tax payment and click Continue.
Finally, on the Select Payment Mode page, from the various options such as pay at the back counter/Pay income tax offline, Net Banking etc, choose the Debit Card mode and select your bank from the provided options. Click Continue.
Review the details and tax breakup on the Preview and Make Payment page, then click Pay Now.
Read and accept the Terms and Conditions, and click Submit to Bank. You will be taken to the selected bank’s website to log in and complete the payment.
Note: After successful payment, you will receive a confirmation email and SMS on the registered email ID and mobile number. You can download the Challan Receipt for future reference, and additionally, the payment details are available under the Payment History tab on the e-Pay Tax page post-login.
Post-Login Method
Log in to the e-Filing portal with your User ID and Password.
Seconldy, on the Dashboard, click e-File > e-Pay Tax.
After that, you will be directed to the e-Pay Tax page. Click the New Payment option to initiate the online tax payment.
On the New Payment page, click Proceed on the tax payment tile that applies to you.
After that, select the Assessment Year, Minor head, and other applicable details, and click Continue.
On the Add Tax Breakup Details page, enter the breakup of the total amount of tax payment and click Continue.
In the Select Payment Mode page, choose the Debit Card mode and finally, select your bank from the provided options. Click Continue.
Once that’s done, review the details and tax breakup on the Preview and Make Payment page, then click Pay Now.
Finally, read and accept the Terms and Conditions, and click Submit to Bank. You will be redirected to the selected bank’s website to log in and complete the payment.
Note: After successful payment, you will receive a confirmation email and SMS on the registered email ID and mobile number. You can find the payment details and Challan Receipt under the Payment History tab on the e-Pay Tax page.
