Right to Information Act 2005 mandates timely response to citizen requests for government information. Under the provisions of the Act, any citizen may request information from a “public authority” (a body of Government or “instrumentality of State”) which is required to reply expeditiously or within thirty days.
How to use it?
To file a RTI, an application form is to be filled, in which the department from which you want to know the information and a small description is to be mentioned. The form should contain all your personal details, and with the fess , it is submitted to the Public Information Officer(POI). It can also be filed online.
